Interval training means running short distances, usually on a track. interval training has 5 variables:
- Length of the interval.
- Speed or intensity of the interval.
- Number of intervals.
- Length of the recovery.
- Nature of the recovery.
Through interval training traditionally involves distances and times for those distances (such as 300m in 45 seconds), the work may be in terms of running set length oftime at agiven pulse rate or intensity level (such as 30 secinds at 170 to 180 BPM). the length of the work interval depends on the type of physiological improvement needed. The energy reserve of the muscles comes from ATP (adenosine triphosphate). It is produced by three pathways:
- ATP-PC system.
- Lactic acid system.
- Oxygen system.
The ATP-CP and LA systems are anaerobic, working with little or no oxygen, while quickly producing ATP for short time. The oxygen system is aerobic and produces ATP for a longer period of time.
